UK General Election 2010! ...Stir it! by Lady Wulfrun

Politics: General election 2010 | guardian.co.uk

In a Cif piece yesterday I essayed that the Lib Dem surge is doing more damage to Tory ambitions in London than to Labour ones. Basically, Cleggmania looks to have spoiled Cameron's hopes of taking three or even four of the five Lib Dem seats in the suburban south-west and put Ealing Central and Acton at risk of turning orange. By contrast, Labour appears set to lose only Hampstead and Kilburn and Islington South and Finsbury to the Lib Dems, and was probably expecting to anyway.

I did, though, add the caveat that the Lib Dems' polling numbers could be “soft” – as a Guardian ICM poll has suggested – and mentioned that Labour in London claimed to have evidence supporting this. Yesterday late-afternoon I spoke to Tessa Jowell. She said that many of those telling canvassers they were thinking of voting Lib Dem were young, not sure they would vote at all and possibly not registered anyway. On the strength of this she insisted that Glenda Jackson and Emily Thornberry would hold on to their seats, helped by their local reputations: Jackson's for rebelliousness, Thornberry's for grassroots graft.

As for the London Labour vote in general, she insisted that it was holding up well thanks to a huge team effort on the ground, and that the Tories's campaign was “invisible.” I pointed out that their candidates in Lab-Con marginals – Hammersmith, Westminster North, Tooting, Eltham – have had money thrown at them in vast quantities. She countered that the Conservatives hadn't even produced a London manifesto.

Our conversation took place as the entire media went mad over the Gordon Brown “bigot” remark. I've a hunch that the furore won't hurt Labour nearly as much as seems to have been assumed. Last night, after watching Harriet Harman had argued loyally but implausibly that Gord hadn't really meant what he'd said, BBC 24 asked four Christians in Norwich, including a female vicar, if the Rochdale “gaffe” had caused them to reassess how they would vote. All said “no” without missing a beat. They felt sorry for the PM. Their message was, “We've all done it, haven't we?” And we have, Londoners included.

Of course, if Jowell is right about the Lib Dem polling figures flattering to deceive, the Tories aren't out of the game in those Lib-Con marginals either. My money's on Cameron forming a government on 7 May, even if it's a minority one. But there's still a whole lot to play for, not least here in the capital.

Get Your FREE iPad – US Only …

Get Your FREE Apple iPad! Click Here…

The Apple iPad is the biggest buzzing gadget in technology right now. There have been rumors of Apple's tablet, reader, and larger iPod for a while but it's finally been confirmed and I have all the juicy details and rumors…

The Apple iPad has finally been unveiled and information has been released to the public (from under Steve Job's turtleneck). The much anticipated features, price, and possible release dates have been confirmed (and rumored) and following is what's in stock for us would-be Apple iPad owners.

The Features

When the Apple iPad hits the scene it'll be like when the”schtick” hits the fan. This new supercharged iPhone will be the biggest competitors for netbooks, smartphones, ebooks readers, and even laptops. Just looking at the following features will leave no doubt in your mind that once the iPad is released, other tech companies will be given a run for their money.

The Apple iPod will be as slim as the iPhone and weigh only 1.5 lbs; less than netbooks and perfect for using on the go. The iPad will also feature a 9.7 inch vibrant touch screen, which is brighter than the Kindle, Sony, Reader, and rivals netbooks and smartphones. There's Wi-Fi, 3G, and Bluetooth support on the new iPad device with added microphone, speakers, and all on a strong 10 hr. Battery. The iPad will be released with a 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB version to fit a wide array of customer's needs.

The Apple iPad will feature internet browsing using Apple's Safari browser (of course) and has an on screen QWERTY touch pad for typing online. Browsing on the iPad's 9.7 inch screen will be similar but faster than browsing on a 10 inch netbook. Unfortunately the Safari browser doesn't feature support for Adobe Flash which will be a bummer when browsing the web or trying to play flash games online. Fortunately, you'll still be able to visit your favorite websites, send emails or browse your favorite social networking sites on the go once the iPad is released.

The iPad, like the iPhone, will feature support for pictures, music, and video playback. It's hard to imagine how Apple can promise a 10 hour battery with supped up features like video and music playback on a 9.7 touch screen, but we'll have to wait and see. You'll be able to view your favorite movies, listen to your best music playlists, and view large sized photos after the Apply iPad is released.

Ebook readers will face a huge slap in the face once the Apple iPad is released on the market. We're used to viewing black and white e-Ink screens like the ones featured on the Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader, but the Apple iPad will revolutionize the way we read ebooks and view newspapers. The Apple iPad gives ebook fans the feature they've always wanted with an ebook reader; color. Not only will color be a main feature of the Apple iPad, but this “super ereader” will also feature faster response time, and a touch screen interface that will likely crush its competitors; the Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader.

The iPad will dazzle its users with tons of features but what will shock most would-be Apple iPad owners is its app support and full support of all iPod Apps. Just like a large sized hulk-like iTouch and iPhone, the Apple iPad will be able to run games and other awesome apps from the apple app store. What's even better is that unlike the iPhone or iTouch, you'll be able to run these cool apps and games on a 9.7 inch touch screen.

Apple iPad's Price

With all the cool features of the soon to be released (more on that later) Apple iPad, you'll figure there has to be a “catch” (usually price). Early rumors alleged that the price of the Apple tablet (before name was released) would be over $1,000. Luckily the price of the Apple iPad isn't that high, but can price close to $1,000 depending on the version you buy. The price of the iPad will start at a low price of only $499.99 and will be available for purchase before it's released, as early as March 10, 2010.

The price of the iPad will vary depending on the model you buy. The 16 GB iPad is priced at $499.99, and the price goes up $100 for each upgrade; $599.99 for the 32GB iPad and $699.99 for a 64 GB iPad. To get the 3G models you'll have to add an additional $130 price tag to each model ($629 16GB, $729.99 32GB, and $829.99 64 GB).

To get wireless access there are pay-as-you-go AT&T plans that come at a price of $15 per month for 250MB of use and $30 for unlimited data usage. No contracts are required for the AT&T wireless plans, access is free at AT&T hotspots (with a plan) and you are able to cancel your plan at any time.

Rumored Release Date

The Apple iPad is rumored to be released in April 2010 with the ability to pre-order as early as March 2010. The release date is coming soon (allegedly) and will be a huge hit when it hits the market. If you plan on buying an Apple iPad, I strongly recommend pre-ordering before it's released or the chances of you owning one (without an added price on eBay) will be slim to none.

Intestinal Cleansing Joy?

Rather than an enema or colonic that cleanses the colon, a salt water flush cleanses your whole system. Not simply do you think you're cleansing your colon by performing a flush, you will be also detoxifying your liver and kidneys.

It is very important prepare your body for any salt water flush by fasting the night time before. Do not eat anything after 4:00 PM about the evening ahead of your planned flush. Ideally, you may perform the flush whenever you first awake the morning after your fast.

It is best to do the flush when you possibly can remain close to bathroom facilities for hours on end. A weekend or perhaps a day off from work or school is ideal.

The brine flush recipe presented in this post is simple. All you need to prepare it may be found right absolutely need kitchen. All that you require is some purified water, Himalayan or Celtic sea salt and also a sauce pan.

1. Over medium heat, warm a quart of purified water in the sauce pan.

2. Add two teaspoons of Himalayan or Celtic sea salt on the water as it is warming. Gently stir the salt into the water so that it dissolves completely.

3. When every one of the salt has dissolved, taste the salted water. If it doesn't have a very slightly salty flavor, add more salt.

4. Don't overheat water. Once they have warmed (but isn't hot) pour it right mug.

5. One glass at a time, drink water quickly. However, you shouldn't chug the water as this could cause vomiting that occur. In total, drink between 2 and 3 glasses of the salted water.

6. After getting finished the lake, gently massage your abdomen to assist separation the accumulated waste.

7. Diarrhea should develop between 15 minutes and a couple of hours after you consume the water.

Water that you simply drink won't be absorbed into your intestines. It's going to go through your colon and expel through your anus. By performing this salt water flush, many goals will probably be accomplished. You won't just be cleansing your colon but you will probably be helping to detoxify your kidneys and liver.

Salt water flushes can purge out Candida and cleanse the body of any parasites that could be present. It is important to understand that on its own, a salt water flush isn't a standalone treatment for these ailments. However, it could be an important aspect of treatment and is particularly noteworthy.

Once you've completed the flush, you will need to please take a probiotic supplement to be able to replenish the nice bacteria that has been lost throughout the flush.

A fantastic holistic physician can guide you down the process.

Airports Reopen As New Ash Cloud Moves In

Sponsor: selling krugerrands uk

——————————-

Airports in Scotland have reopened but tens of thousands of passengers hoping to return home face further frustration as a new ash cloud drifts towards the UK.

Some 150,000 Britons have been stranded abroad in the wake of an eruption from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland that has thrown an enormous cloud of potentially hazardous ash into airspace over northern Europe. It had been hoped that the air was clearing and flights would be able to resume today but the eruption strengthened overnight.

Air traffic control company Nats said in an update shortly before 3am today: “Since our last statement at 9pm yesterday, the volcano eruption in Iceland has strengthened and a new ash cloud is spreading south and east towards the UK.

“This demonstrates the dynamic and rapidly changing conditions in which we are working.” Latest information from the Met Office shows that the situation is variable. Nats said it would provide further updates at around 9am today.

Newcastle Airport has also reopened for flights to and from Aberdeen and the Isle of Man.

It also said easyJet was hoping to operate a “very limited service” from late afternoon. Other airspace over England is expected to open from 1pm, not including the main London airports.

British Airways has cancelled all of its short-haul flights scheduled for today. The airline said it hoped to run long-haul flights scheduled to depart after 4pm, depending on a “full and permanent” opening of airspace.

Manchester Airport said it plans to open at 1pm at the earliest after initially hoping to open at 9am. But a spokeswoman said it would monitor further updates from Nats.

easyJet has cancelled all flights until at least 5pm in Northern Europe including the UK. A limited number of flights will operate in Southern Europe.

Earlier, Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced plans to use Royal Navy vessels to bring home some of the Britons stranded abroad. A brand new £500m cruise ship, the Celebrity Eclipse, is due to leave Southampton at 9am for Bilbao to pick up around 2,000 British tourists at the port.

A meeting of the emergency planning committee Cobra, chaired by Mr Brown, was held last night to discuss the latest updates on the ash cloud.

A Downing Street spokesman said the committee agreed the Government should “continue to do whatever it can” to return stranded Britons to the UK. Another meeting will take place today.

Ministers met yesterday following a clamour from airlines to restore flights, with carriers including British Airways pointing to the success of test flights.

While travel organisations warned that it would be some time before travel and airports were back to normal, airlines were counting the cost of the disruption.
BA said the flight ban had cost it around £15m to £20m a day.

Willie Walsh, BA chief executive, questioned the necessity of the hitherto “blanket ban” on flights. The British Air Transport Association has written to Transport Secretary Lord Adonis asking him “to commit to standing behind the industry financially at this very difficult time”.

The International Air Transport Association was highly critical of the European response to the ash crisis. It estimated that it was costing the aviation industry around $200m (£130m) a day.

Economic recovery may go up in smoke thanks to the volcano

After the bank bailout that cost us all way too much money, a Europe-wide taxpayer-funded financial support scheme for the airline industry is being discussed in response to planes being unable to fly because of the Icelandic volcano eruption. British Airways is losing around £25m ($38m) a day. Easyjet is losing up to £5m ($7.6m) a day. They have access to borrowing and can cope with the financial hit just so long as it doesn’t last much longer.

Supermarkets have announced that supplies of imported flowers, fruit and vegetables are beginning to run low. Many businesses reliant upon air freight are losing money while perishable goods at home and abroad are rotting in warehouses.

Nobody really has any idea when the outpouring of ash and the volcanic activity will end. This crisis reveals the Achilles heel of globalisation: the more interconnected we are, the less self-sufficient as nations, the more reliant we are on specific forms of transport, then the easier it is for mother nature (or, for that matter, terrorists) to throw a spanner in the works. Countries untouched by the ash fallout from the volcano will suffer as well—for example, America cannot conduct much of its trade with Europe while the crisis continues.

Yesterday, Iceland’s Prime Minister could be heard on BBC Radio 4 expressing concerns that another volcano close to Eyjafjallajoekull may be stirred to eruption by its already active neighbour. If this happens, flights over Europe could stop for a month. The economic consequences of that would be disastrous across the whole world.

And before anyone thinks this might be good for the environment at least, with a massive drop in CO2 emissions while there are no flights operating, you’d be wrong to espouse this idea. Volcanoes pump lots of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, including methane which is said to be 100 times more impactful than CO2. Volcanoes have always had a hugely significant role to play in changing the Earth’s climate.

Volcanic activity should not be seen as putting the brakes on global warming; instead, it can accelerate the increase in temperatures in ways impossible to model and predict.

There’s something ironic (as well as scary) in the idea that a single natural event in a bankrupt country (that won’t yet pay back what it owes to the UK) could kill off the hope of a relatively quick recovery from the biggest planet-wide recession in history. Regardless, we can only pray that our governments don’t allow flights to resume until it is safe for them to do so. Contrary to popular mythology, it is possible to survive a financial nosedive but there’s no way back for anyone who dies in completely avoidable air disasters.

But what of all those hundreds of thousands of business travellers and tourists stranded around the world? Getting them back by boat should be the number one priority to arrange. My partner’s own parents are currently stranded in Bangkok and should have flown home on Saturday. As people run out of money they will turn to their embassies for help.

Something should be done today, right now, to avoid our citizens being individually bankrupted by this volcanic crisis, to make sure they are fed, given accommodation and brought back to their families as soon as possible—but a cruise ship from Bangkok, we’ve found, is a journey of two weeks. What happens when people don’t go back to work after their holidays because they can’t? Never mind the money the airlines and companies are losing, worrying though this is. It’s people who should come first. Bring them home. Now.

Flip Houses — How to Do It Right

Flipping house property for profit can generate good income – if you get it right. If you want to flip houses, then you need to learn the market. Understand what would turn a 'bad' property into a 'good' property. And most essentially, realize that no matter how much refurbishing you carry out, a really bad location cannot be changed, and so you should usually pass.

If you are new to flipping houses, then being realistic about your own limitations is a good start. To successfully flip houses that need major structural repair requires experience. When you first start out you really want to buy and sell on as quickly and easily as possible.

Be cautious with regards to buying a house that needs obvious structural repairs. You can virtually guarantee there are less obvious related problems that will be uncovered later on. A big problem usually indicates several smaller problems. Houses that need plumbing and electrical work, or new walls and structural beams requires years of experience and skills in these areas – or a big budget to pay professionals. You may well find that the stress involved in organizing and paying professionals will not be reflected in your profit margins when it comes to resale.

Investors who know how to flip houses can make a lot of money. However, there are newcomers who will, unfortunately, end up counting their losses: simply because they took on too much.

It is important to make a sound decision because mistakes can be costly. So your first objective is to know your market. That way you will actually know what is a bargain when it comes your way. Before you jump in and try your hand at flipping house property, keep track of how long houses in that area are taking to sell and what the average price is – what type of house is making the quickest sale? If you want to flip houses successfully, you need to find out what the average buyer is looking for.

When you first set out to flip houses, opting for a property that needs just a little cosmetic work is the more realistic choice. Houses that need a paint job and new floor coverings can make money. Do not shy away from smelly houses! They can be goldmines. Good hunting!

So you want to know what keyword density and SEO are? Yeah, so did I when I first started building my web presence. Everywhere I looked, they said, “You have to have good keyword density. SEO is critical to Google and Yahoo! search engine and directory placement. Articles, articles, articles…”

What? Articles? What does that have to do with keyword density and SEO?

Glad you asked!

The best way to get good search engine and directory placement for your website is to have valuable content on your site. What is valuable content? Well, most people use web copy to provide this content. There are many different types of web copy though.

Now, this web copy can definitely be the description of your site, your services, etc., but one valuable resource for web copy is the use of informational articles. The more content and articles you have, the more keywords you can use, and the more likely your site will be indexed under a variety of different keywords and phrases.

I’m not really big on the technical end of how it all works, and I’m not sure anyone, including Google, knows exactly how Google determines who gets placed where by what keywords, but here is what I do know: articles and REAL content information with proper keywords makes all the difference to your site’s ranking and placement.

But not just any old article will do the trick!

This is one misconception I’ve seen among people who have hired me to write keyword articles for them. Many think that just making sure I use the keywords they have given me as many times as possible will increase their rankings, and that’s all there is to it.

It might be if the website is only using ONE keyword or keyword phrase, and the article contains no other index-able words, but most companies don’t have just one product or just one service, and focusing on just one keyword or one phrase will not do the trick for any other search terms a user might use to find the site. Additionally, using too many of the same keywords can cause some indexers to reject the keyword completely, considered keyword stuffing, not to mention the fact that the article will not read well, and that reflects poorly on your site. Plus, keyword density is determined by scanning index-able words and calculating how many time your keywords appears among those index-able words.

There is truly an art to SEO and keyword density that should be learned. Even words you do not put in your alt or meta tags but that appear repeatedly on your page will be used to index your site, sometimes whether you want them to be used or not! Making sure your content has properly optimized keyword density for your site is crucial.

While you can indeed find free articles on the web to use as content for your site, and I definitely don’t discourage this, be sure to check the author’s suggested keywords and make sure that they are relevant to the keywords you will be using on your site. Just throwing up a series of articles that aren’t related to your site will do little to increase your rankings and site placement, and definitely won't bring TARGETED traffic to your pages. It is, after all, targeted traffic that converts to sales or ad clicks – and that is what makes you money!

If you really want to make sure your site has good keyword density and proper SEO, you might want to consider hiring an article writer to provide unique keyword articles for your product, service, or website. These services are usually relatively inexpensive and you can be assured good keyword density for your site and /or your products or services.
